De deluxe-editie van Purple Rain (2017) bevatte naast het originele album een verzameling B-kanten en niet eerder uitgebracht materiaal een dvd met daarop een registratie van het concert dat Prince gaf op 30 maart 1985 in Syracause. Dat concert werd destijds via satelliet live uitgezonden, maar krijgt nu voor het eerst een zelfstandige release. Het geluid is opnieuw gemixt en daar waar nodig flink opgepoetst. Naast vroegere hits als 1999 en Little Red Corvette wordt het gehele Purple Rain-album gespeeld, culminerend in een twintig minuten durende versie van het titelnummer. Ook meer obscure nummers als de B-kantjes Irresistible Bitch en How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore staan op de setlist. Dat Prince live tot grote hoogten kon stijgen, wisten we al, maar deze registratie behoort tot de allerbeste live-albums aller tijden.
